TMF/A-802 Bucue
It has been a while since I attempted anything with a SEED kit so I thought I'd give it a go and try and works some miracles with a No Grade kit - the BuCUE!
For this kit, I have made the following modifications :
- Added a light for the mono-eye.
- Added a pink transparent cover for the mono-eye.
- Removed the plastic piping from under the neck and replaced it with hollow mesh chain. This allowed the wiring from the mono-eye light to be hidden.
- Braided wire added to the fronts of the knees. This was mainly to hide big seamlines but also to simulate some power conduits.
- Beam sabers added from another SEED kit.
- Added waterslide decals from another kit (Caution signage mainly).
The male and female connectors inside the head were removed to allow for mounting of the light and to allow the wiring to pass through and out under the neck. The wiring then went through the body and down the front, right leg. It then went through the base and into a cut out section underneath the wooden part of the base where I have wired up a switch and battery.
The slight camo scheme was entirely airbrushed freehand with different browns and yellows. It was my first attempt at freehand painting like that, and even thought it's far from the best, I'm quite happy how it turned out in the end.
The base was made with polystyrene, foam and plaster of paris. I added the rocks and sand whilst the plaster was wet to help adhere it more to the base. Once the plaster dried, I added more rocks and sand which I fixed in place with watered down white glue and a good coat of clear. Once that had all dried, I airbrushed browns and blacks on to the sand and rocks and added a wash with Smoke color to the rocks to highlight the cracks and creveses.
More information on the building of this kit can be found in the In-Progress section.
Overall, I'm quite happy how it turned out, especially due to the fact it is a pretty badly designed No Grade kit.
