Gundam GP01

It's been a while since I did what I like to call a 'simple build' so having the old HGUC GP01 kit laying around, I decided to keep it simple and do a OOB build (or as close as I could get!).
This is my second GP01 build (the first being the Master Grade version) which went together well considering the age of the kits design (some older HGUC kits are notoriously bad). I removed various seams in all the usual places (like the forearms, head, shoulders and legs) and primed using 3M Surfacer.
Painting was done with Tamiya acrylics, thinned and sprayed using the air brush. Paints I used were Medium Blue, Sky Grey, NATO Black and Royal Blue. Silver parts were done with Mr Metal Chrome.
Once painted, I applied some Pledge Clear coat and did a panel line wash and then added chipping effects to the kit using Model Masters Burnt Iron and Mr Metal Chrome. Battle damage to the shield was done using the rotary tool with and engraving bit installed.
Decals used were various ones from Bandai sets and from Samuel Decals. IC Pins were added to the shoulders and thrusters.
The base is a small piece of wood with a piece of plaster cast rock attached. It was detailed using textured paint, green flock, and some bushes and foliage from the Woodlands Scenics range. The kit was attached to the base using strong magnets but they weren't strong enough to hold the kit firmly in place, so some CA Glue was added to strengthen the bond between the kit and base.
Overall it was a nice refreshing build, something quick and easy to take my mind away from the huge Kshatriya build that I am still working on as I write this!
