MS-06V Zaku Tank
This project has taken longer than I wanted, but finally, I have finished the Zaku Tank!
"Recon Unit #9" is this Zaku Tank's assigned name when out in the field. Primarily, it is used for any recon that is required by the Zeon Forces during the many battles that they undertake against the Earth Forces.
All in all, this kit was very dissapointing to make. The mouldings are very, very poor and most pieces either aren't accurate or don't snap together at all. There are a couple of missing holes and pegs also which added to the frustration.
The neck joint, whilst quite solid in construction, made the head very hard to paint. To combat this problem, I decided to do some modifications to the joint and where it attached to the head. The neck was replaced with another neck piece from a more modern kit, whilst the head joint was replaced with a polycap piece, also from a modern kit.
Weathering and shading was done using my usual method, using the Tamiya Weathering Set (the Soot colour again). The stickers that come with the kit are really, really crap. I mean, I couldn't even peel them off the sheet at all. I thought I'd try a stencil but I looked through my pile of left overs and found the numbers from a 08th MS Team kit (actually it was from the Gundam vs. Zaku kit) so I thought I'd try and give it a 'unit number'. I'm a bit dissapointed in how the numbers (and the warning labels on the 'flaps') look, but I don't have access to the correct decals so I made do with what I had. I really should've made a stencil - might have to revisit the kit at a later date.
