27th annual Australian model expo:

Over the Queen's Birthday long weekend over here in Australia (12th to 14th of June), the 27th Annual Australian Model Expo (and competition) was held at the Sandown Racecourse in Melbourne.

As with previous years, this year managed to attract the a huge amount of entries and an increased number of traders in attendance, with many new vendors setting up and providing us modelling fans with a ton of new items to purchase.

I took 6 of my builds with me to Expo this year, which I drove down to the Racecourse on the Friday night (entires were being taken then too) as I have done on previous years. Here is what I entered this year :

When I returned to the event on the Monday, I was pleasantly suprised to see that I had won first place in the Civil Dioramas section for the T-Rex vs Trike diorama and 3rd place in the Miscellaneous for the Protoceratops. Unfortunately, I didn't collect anything in Sci Fi but that was due to the fact that there was a ton of great models entered in that category this year. Here are my trophies :

As with last years event, I managed to take a heap of pictures and video. I'm still using a digital camera for the video at the moment so it's a little grainy. I've compiled the best of the video into the following 9 and a half minute clip :

I also took 252 pictures of the event and all can be found in the Gallery which can be accessed by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.

For more information on this and forthcoming events, feel free to visit the IPMS Australia site and the Model Expo site.

If anyone sees their model in the Gallery and would like the original photo, please drop me a line via the Contact page and I'll be more than happy to email them to you.
