29th annual Australian model expo:
Over the Queen's Birthday long weekend over here in Australia (9th to 11th of June), the 29th Annual Australian Model Expo (and competition) was held at the Sandown Racecourse in Melbourne.
This year was bigger in terms of the amount of traders on the floor and the size of the Swap and Sell, and the amounts of entries across all categories didn't disappoint.
This year also marked the second year of the Gundam and Mech Category and Mecha Workshop was once again in attendance with 2 tables this year chock full of all types of Gunpla goodness from snapped to fully painted (including 3 of my own builds (the Uneven Battlefield, Kneel Before Your God, and the SD Z'Gok builds).
For the 6th year in a row, I drove down to Melbourne and entered my most recent kits. Here is what I entered this year :
Out of those entries, I came away with a Commended Award for the Gundam GP01 and a 3rd for The Last Champion of Zeon.
First place in the Gundam and Mech Category was taken out by a stunning Ma.K build with second being won by Mark Carlisles Zaku II. Mark was the fellow who won the Gunpla Builders World Cup 2011 with his Lava based Dom. Congratulations to all of those who deservedly won!
Here are a few videos I have made covering the event :
I also took 407 pictures of the event with photos from every category. All can be found in the Gallery which can be accessed by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
If anyone sees their model in the Gallery and would like the original photo, please drop me a line via the Contact page and I'll be more than happy to email them to you.
